Gillian Rice grew up loving nature in her native England. When she moved to Phoenix to continue her academic career teaching marketing, she began volunteering at the Desert Botanical Garden (DBG). As she learned more about plants, she felt an urge to paint them and achieved the DBG's Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration.
Her work was selected for the 17th Annual International exhibition of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) at The Horticultural Society of New York. She was awarded Best in Wet Medium in the exhibition, Indigenous Plants of Arizona, at Tempe Public Library. A juried member of the Arizona Art Alliance, Gillian serves as Secretary on ASBA's Board of Directors and is a contributor to its journal, The Botanical Artist.
