“It’s Not a Willow”

The long, narrow, gracefully drooping leaves give the appearance of a willow, but the desert willow is not in the willow family of plants as its appearance and common name suggest. Flower color ranges from light to dark lavender and pink. The dried flowers are a favorite food of my desert tortoise.
