FOOD PLANTS OF THE SONORAN DESERT
By Wendy C. Hodgson
The following illustrations are from Food Plants of the Sonoran Desert, a compilation of information on nearly 540 edible plants used by people of more than fifty traditional cultures of the Sonoran Desert and peripheral areas. Drawing on twenty-five years of research by Hodgson, this volume synthesizes the widely scattered literature with personal experience added to create an extensive, detailed catalog of desert plants and their many and varied uses. Hodgson was both author and illustrator. Most of the illustrations were drawn from dried herbarium specimens.
Food Plants of the Sonoran Desert was winner of the 2001 Klinger Book Award presented by the Society for Economic Botany.
